Cyclops : Socket Poppers by ERTL

The Cyclops is a single eyed purply-pink generic alien looking thing.

Socket Poppers was the brand name distributed by ERTL in the early 1990s. This line was also marked in Europe as Connectors by Matchbox and Giotochi Perez in Italy. The basic concept was that all the figures could mix-n-match arms legs and heads. They can be found on Ebay listed under Socket Poppers or Connectors

Sculpt :

The cyclops has a fantastic sculpt and looks very alien-like. The head is killer good though. One big O’le eye in the middle, individual teeth and fangs, ears similar to a swamp creature, and I really like the derpy expression it is giving off with its tongue hanging out.

Paint:

His paint applications are pretty good. The base of the figure is a light colored purple plastic with a light dry brush of darker purple on the torso, dark purple splotches on the arms and face, and a fading dark purple up the feet and legs.

Articulation and construction:

It has 5 Areas of articulation and the body is made of a very hard and durable plastic and the arms, legs, and head are a softer plastic so that they can all be removed and switched around.

  • Swivel neck
  • Swivel shoulders
  • Swivel hips
Accessories:

None

Size and scale:

The Cyclops is shorter than a Boss Fight Studio VHACK Blank . He can fit in pretty much any 3 3/4″-4″ alien based establishment.

Final thoughts:

I love this figure. The whole figure is just bizarre and a little derpy.

Morn : Star Trek Deep Space Nine by Playmates Toys

Morn is a Lurian cargo pilot that is a regular customer of Quarks on Star Trek’s Deep Space Nine.

Morn’s Deep Space Nine action figure was released in 1993 by Playmate’s Toys. This figure is still pretty cheap on Ebay.

As far as categorizing this figure and line in The Archive I will enter them under the Alien Supplemental line which has a bunch of different aliens from all types of properties.

Sculpt :

Morn has a decent sculpt and looks like a big alien wearing clothes appropriate for a space port. The details are pretty soft. The head is pretty good though and I really like the expression he is giving off.

Paint:

His paint applications are pretty basic. Almost all of the figure is colored plastic and the only paint used on the body is some minor details on the jacket and gloves.

Articulation and construction:

He sports 7 Areas of articulation and made of a very hard and durable plastic. Probably why it has lasted 30+ years.

  • Swivel neck
  • Swivel shoulders
  • Single hinge elbows
  • Swivel V-hips
  • Single hinge knees
Accessories:

Morn comes with a bunch of random orange pieces that kind of look like weird rune stones.

Size and scale:

Morn is much taller than a Boss Fight Studio VHACK Blank but not too bulky. He can fit in pretty much any 3 3/4″-4″ alien based establishment.

Final thoughts:

It’s an okay figure. Won’t be used much other than a random alien in the background.

Silurian – Dr. Who by Dapol

Silurian are a species of reptilians that exist in the Dr. Who Universe. They first appeared during season 7 of the show. The are from Earth and had gone into a hibernation state, which is why no-one was aware of them.

The Silurian figure was released in the third wave of figures in 1998. I got my figure in 2020 from Ebay. If you are interested in getting one yourself, the Silurian and other Dapol Dr. Who figures can be found using this Ebay link.

As far as categorizing this figure and line in The Archive I will enter them under the Alien Supplemental line which has a bunch of different aliens from all types of properties.

Sculpt :

The Silurian has sculpted “scales” on its whole body with some blobish areas on its chest and back which I am not really sure what those are for. The details are very soft including the head sculpt. Yeah its an alien but the head looks like it could double as a Lego brick.

Paint:

His paint applications are pretty basic. The brown parts are all colored plastic and the only paint used on the body is the scruff around its neck and its toes. The head only painted the eyes solid and a red dot on its forehead, which I think is also an eye.

The Silurian is almost exactly the same height as a Boss Fight Studio VHACK Blank. He can fit in pretty much any 3 3/4″-4″ alien based establishment.

Tetrap – Dr. Who by Dapol

Tetraps are a species of mamaloids that exist in the Dr. Who Universe. They first appeared during the 7th Doctor’s run. Didn’t look anymore into them than that because they are just awesome looking bat-like aliens. No more info needed.

The Tetrap figure was released in the first wave of figures in 1988-1989. I got my figure in 2020 from Ebay. If you are interested in getting one yourself, the Tetrap and other Dapol Dr. Who figures can be found using this Ebay link.

As far as categorizing this figure and line in The Archive I will enter them under the Alien Supplemental line which has a bunch of different aliens from all types of properties.

  • Made by Dapol but grouped under Multiple companies
Sculpt :

The Tetrap has sculpted fur on its whole body. The details are pretty soft though. The head sculpt on it is really good though and really captures the coolness of the character.

Front
Paint:

His paint applications are pretty basic. The dark brown parts are all colored plastic and the hands and belly are painted a lighter brown. The head again is the best part of the paint and really highlight the uniqueness of the figure.
