1:18 Action Figure News, Reviews, and Checklists
The Knights of the Slice February edition of the Action Figure of the Month is a stone deco version of Chakan. I guess he didn’t get along with Medusa too well.
Petit’gguy aka Bearguy is actually a huge MECH in the Gundam universe but I got the figure to be a cutesy little robot for my 1:18 collection.
This figure is a Bandai Hobby HGBF 1/144 Lightning Blue Petit-Beargguy Gundam Build Fighters Model Kit that you have to put together from its spru. I was able to put it together very easily so It’s not like a challenge or anything.
These things a pretty cheap and can be found between $5-$15 depending on what color and style you would want. Amazon has bunches of styles and colors. I ordered mine from BBTS.com, It is sold out of this color but there are other colors and styles available.
Captain Black is what happens when you take a monster truck and turn it into an action figure.
These new Monster Jam Creatures figures are made in 2020 by Spin Master Toys as part of the 1:64 scale monster trucks that they make.
Captain Black is a pretty sweet looking skeleton pirate with both a hook and and an anchor for a peg-leg. It doesn’t really get any cooler than that.
His paint applications are pretty basic with solid colors for most of the figure.
Unfortunately this figure does not have much in the way of articulation.
Captain Black does come with a 1:64 version of the Monster Truck Pirate’s Curse he was spawned from. I don’t collect mini cars so that is going straight to the store.
Pirate Black stands right around the 5″ mark. This whole line is a little larger than typical 1:18 scale figures I feature here but could work as a larger type character. Similar to how I use Ninja Turtle Villains and some 2K Masters of the Universe figures.
This figure is very reminiscent to Chap Mei figures that I love. It was an easy decision to add all 3 figures of this line (so far) to my collection even if they are a little larger than I usually collect.
The Mobile Mastiff is a robotic dog from a Chinese animated show called World Peacekeepers.
The figure is from a line made by M&C Toy Centre that also makes the Army figures called Power Team Elite – World Peacekeepers as well. The two lines are completely separate things though. The animation line is really pretty great for Sci-Fi lovers.
I got mine directly from the manufacturer from their website. They do have a few hoops to jump through but the process is fairly simple still.
Maximus appears to be a monster truck transformed into an action figure. That is all.
The figure is from a new line called Monster Jam : Creatures by Spin Master Toys. Pretty neat figure regardless that he only sports 5 areas of articulation. Swivel neck, Hinge pin shoulders, and T Swivel hips.
Easy to find since these just came out. I got this one at Target and Amazon has a listing up.
So I guess this is actually supposed to be a MECH of some sort. Being 3.75″ it fits in well as just a regular droid though.
This figure is part of the Super 7 Robotech ReAction line made in 2017.
Amazon still has a couple of these as well as Ebay but both are marked up. BBTS and Super7s website was sold out.
Bytes is a robotic dog from the children’s cartoon Rusty Rivets on Nickelodeon.
The Rusty Rivets line was made by Spin Master Toys in 2017. He came in a two pack with Ruby. I picked up this figure on a whim during my last trip to the local Toys R Us. I have actually tracked down all the rest of the robots from this line now. One really neat feature that I will show in a later post is the combine-ability of the random parts included in these sets.
This figure is pretty easy to find on Amazon since it is still a fairly newish figure.
Lug is from the 2005 Robots movie voiced by Harland Williams. Lug came in a two pack as part of the 3.5″ Mix and Match line.
Ebay is the best place to find this figure. It is a bit hit and miss since the line is a very generic word “Robots”. I got this figure as part of lot from Ebay a few years ago.
After getting some help from Norwegian collectors I have completed the set of “Kaptein Sabeltann” figures from Chap Mei.
This appears to be Chap Mei’s first licensed line of 4″ figures that I am aware of. All of the figures are new sculpts and only have been used for this line. Kaptein Sabeltann aka Captain Sabertooth is a pirate from a Norwegian series for children.
The figures all have similar construction consisting of 4 POA. A swivel waist, a swivel neck, and swivel shoulders.
Kaptein Sabeltann – aka Captain Sabertooth, leader of the pirate band and captain of The Dark Lady.
Langemann – Commander of Kaptein Sabeltann ragtag band of pirates. He saved Pinky from a sinking ship and has since looked after the youth. He harbors warm feelings towards Rosa but is unable to admit it easily.
Pinky – Is known as the youngest pirate in the world and was rescued by Langemann when he was just an infant. He befriended Sunniva in the village of Abra.
Pelle Pirat – Crew member of The Black Lady and comic relief with his twin brother Pysa.
Pelle is actually the exact same figure as Pysa just comes with a different name on his card.
Pysa Pirat -Crew member of The Black Lady and comic relief with his twin brother Pelle.
Pysa is actually the exact same figure as Pelle just comes with a different name on his card.
Skalken – The cook for The Black Lady. Known as the worst cook ever and his specialty is Green rat soup.
Benjamin – Crew member aboard The Black Lady and one of Kaptein Sabeltann’s most trusted men. His personality is often annoying because he twists everything around and thinks he is the smartest of the crew.
Sunniva – Niece of Bassa and lives in the town of Kjuttaviga. She always enjoys when her friend Pinky shows up.
Rosa – Governor of the Villa Rosa.
Oliver – Runs the shop in Abra Harbor that is know to have anything. Pinky frequents his shops when he needs something or needs information.
Greven av Gral – A deadly and wicked sorcerer who constantly tries to make everyone on the island of Gral to act as his minions.
The Black Lady – Kaptein Sabeltann’s ship. This ship is just a re-deco of Chap Mei’s large Pirate ship.
The Grevinn – Greven av Gral’s ship. This ship is just a re-deco of Chap Mei’s small Pirate ship.
Skull Island – This is a re-release of one of Chap Mei’s skull island.
I’ve added all these figure to the Archive.
FX-7 was one of the medical droids from Star Wars Empire Strikes Back in Echo Base on Hoth.
FX-7 was first released by Hasbro in 2001 in the Star Wars Power of the Jedi line. It was later re-released as a repaint in the The Vintage Collection in 2010 as part of a Target exclusive 3 pack.
Ebay is really the main online option to get this figure.
